Artists portrait of Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein

  • Born: 27. October 1923 in New York
  • Died: 29. September 1997
Born on October 27th, 1923 in New York, Roy Lichtenstein was the most consistent painter in Pop Art, since, in his paintings, popular picture-formulas from comics, advertisements and cartoons, or from well known works of art and styles of painting were removed from their usual context. Similar to the works of Andy Warhol, this hereby created effect of estrangement, which led to the symbolisation of consumerist relationships. The works of Lichtenstein represented the first serious attempt to bridge the gap between "highbrow" art and the "lowbrow" art of the trivial and popular. His paintings reflected for the first time the technical possibilities that a work of art possessed in accordance with the technical reproduction capabilities of the time. Halftone techniques, sharp contrasts and a limitation on primary colours, in order to achieve the effect of cheap prints, defined Lichtenstein´s paintings. That way he created powerful works, which viewers soon associated with the term Pop Art. By replacing the artistic texture of ordinary painting with an industrial texture by imitating printing techniques through halftone dots, he was able to awaken the observer's needed critical distance in order to make him aware of the unconscious consumption of mass product's such as comics or pictures. Roy Lichtenstein died at the age of 73 in September 1997.
The pictures are predominantly assigned to the art direction Pop Art.
The art works of the artist are dominated by the colors pastel, gray and white.

Art Prints

We deliver exclusively art prints from well-known art publishers in brilliant quality, such as the art print »Masterpiece, 1962« from Roy Lichtenstein. Classic art prints are normally produced by offset or screen printing. In this case, often also spot colours and embossments are used.

Graphic Arts

Prints or graphics, often also called prints or original graphics, are always created with the collaboration of the artist as prints of special quality. The printing process used by the artist is chosen in such a way that the artwork is shown to its best advantage, as for example in »As I opened Fire (Triptychon)« by Roy Lichtenstein.

Art Cards

Our art cards are from well-known publishers in Germany. The classic 15x10 format is just as represented as the square 14x14 format. They all have a varnished surface to provide the best possible protection. Often art cards are only offered in a pack of 10. With us you receive e.g. »Big Painting 6« from Roy Lichtenstein also as a single item.

Stretcher on canvas

Our canvas prints are handmade in our own workshop. Either the canvas print or the art print laminated on a canvas is stretched onto a quality keyless frame. Perfectly wedged and provided with a suspension, the canvas image can be hung directly. Optionally, we also offer each canvas picture framed, i.e. with floater frame. »Drowning Girl« of Roy Lichtenstein as a canvas image also beautifies your home.

Framed pictures

We frame almost every picture. You can choose from many different frames. Passepartouts are just as much a part of your choice as are various options for surface protection. So »Kiss« of Roy Lichtenstein becomes a highlight for your living room or bedroom.
