Look J. Boden
- Lebt (lebte) in Netherlands
Look J. Boden (born 1974 in Vlaardingen) is an independent Dutch photographer, designer and poet. He studied law at university for a few years, but abandoned that discipline in pursuit of a more creative life. During his university years, Boden founded literary magazine Renaissance; he stayed on as editor-in-chief for six years. On behalf of the organization behind the magazine and later for the LGD Foundation, he organized dozens of performance nights, two festivals and nine local editions of Poetry Day. From 2001 to 2003, he was an editor for a local newspaper and a business magazine. He then started his own company as a copywriter and graphic designer.
Boden is active as portrait and fine art photographer. Since 2008, he has been working on a broad variety of autonomous and disturbing conceptual images, in which he often tries to depict two or more opposites (e.g. power and vulnerability, love and death). His main research field is the interface between identity and image: who is 'real' and who is 'fake', or can those two things be combined in a single person?
