This is a straight street shot done in Azores, S. Michael Island, Ponta Delgada City´s main street. There are a footbridge above the street and i liked the potential of the graphics in the sidewalk and the lines. I stay there for about 2 hours shooting and trying different aproaches, angles and compositions and waiting for clean shots, because it´s a busy street, with many cars and people. This was the last shot i´ve done in that spot and one of the four shots with this (+-45º) angle, because i liked the projection of the white lines with this "tilt". I like to think that the white convertible VW "beatle" was my "prize" for those 2 hours in the same spot to achieve some clean shots and not giving up earlier (actually, I was also waiting for a shot with only one or two people in the frame or, at least, a small number of people that could be easily "reduced", later, in processing, but that never happened; only more a less scenes with some compromise in every aspect - as it usual happens to me in street shooting, the situation/equation was the classic "non staged street nightmare": one or two people and a huge amount of cars, or one car and a huge number of people because of the green/red lights for cars and people to cross or, even, the "static", zen, situation of no cars and no people at all). The Title is a word/mind play with the elements and the mood of the picture and a tribute to the "myth" of the 5th "Beatle" guy, Stuart, because his background related with photography and Arts; but mainly a homage to how History (our personal history too) could be all different if tiny things were not exactly like they happened. "Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe (23 June 1940 – 10 April 1962) was a Scottish-born artist and musician best known as the original bassist for the Beatles. Sutcliffe left the band to pursue his career as an artist, having previously attended the Liverpool College of Art. Sutcliffe and John Lennon are credited with inventing the name, "Beetles", as they both liked Buddy Holly's band, the Crickets. The band used this name for a while until Lennon decided to change the name to "the Beatles", from the word Beat. As a member of the group when it was a five-piece band, Sutcliffe is one of several people sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Beatle". When the Beatles played in Hamburg, he met photographer Astrid Kirchherr, to whom he was later engaged. After leaving the Beatles, he enrolled in the Hamburg College of Art, studying under future pop artist, Eduardo Paolozzi, who later wrote a report stating that Sutcliffe was one of his best students. Sutcliffe earned other praise for his paintings, which mostly explored a style related to abstract expressionism. While studying in Germany, Sutcliffe began experiencing severe headaches and acute sensitivity to light. In the first days of April 1962, he collapsed in the middle of an art class after complaining of head pains. German doctors performed various checks, but were unable to determine the exact cause of his headaches. On 10 April 1962, he was taken to hospital, but died in the ambulance on the way. The cause of death was later revealed to have been an aneurysm in his brain's right hemisphere." - between the quotation marks is web source narrative
