Eye of Light by Alessandro Zocchi

This image representing an artistic view of a human eye was shot as a macro photo of olive oil droplets in water, Contrary to many other pictures taken with the same material, this one was designed carefully placing the two main drops on a layer of water spread on a horizontal glass. Needles, toothpicks and fine tweezers were used to set the scene. Some practice was needed to find the best set up. The other tiny bubbles were just present and I left them to give a hint on how the subject was made. To obtain this kind of ighting two pieces of cloths were positioned about 1 meter beneath the glass. The yellow and orange cloths were arranged to cover roughly 50% each of the frame, to give what I believe is a nice juxtaposition of colors and contrast. A remotely controlled flash was the only source of light and was aimed to the cloths only, so that oil and water were lit through. The lack of direct lighting minimized the appearence of dust and foreign particles, yet some spot healing was necessary to remove some distracting elements. Photoshop Lightroom was the only software used.
