In the neighborhood of the street where I live some hundred houses are being demolished. I made it into a photographic project. The ultimate goal is to publish a book - a kind of diary, since I visit the premisses daily. For the project the photos are processed in colour - see my blog - but some - which will not be included in the book - are processed into black and white since they tell a different story and could be part of a different project. In this case it is my window portrait project. Windows allow you to have a look at an outside world, or vice versa they might give you a look into a the inner world of the inhabitants. There are however windows that are a world in themselves. They tell stories. Scary stories, happy stories, stories about the owner of a house. They can be absurd, surrealistic, melancholic, introvert, extravert and so on. They are like portraits - each showing a character of their own which has nothing to do with their original purpose. That's why I call them " window portraits". By now I've got quite a collection of those portraits. This portrait shows the remains of a window and its sunshade.
