Hard Labour by Philip Sutton

This Picture is available as Photo Print, Canvas on Stretcher, Framed Picture, Glass Print and Wall Paper.

I mentioned on here before how much I love photographing Asian brick factories. Unlike Australia where I live, I am actually able to get in with a few smiles and politeness, and soon these lovely people allow me to record their lives. I got up at 4am in Siem Reap this year, to get out to the brick factory on time. My Tuk Tuk driver thought I was stark raving bonkers, to get up at that time to photograph a brick factory. All the other tourists were vying with each other in the crowds at Angkor Wat - I had the brick factory to myself. I ended up spending a week in bed with a terrible flu, because I got soaking wet, and then a chill sitting in the open, in the dark cold on the back of the moto. However, it was all worth it. I got some beautiful moody images of these lovely people going about their daily lives. This woman carts the bricks from the kiln and stacks them, from there they are transported to the building sites.
